A Parisian Fete - July 5-7, 2012 - San Francisco Conservatory of  Music

The 4th Salkind International Piano Duo Festival featured A Parisian Fete highlighted Paris as an artistic center during its’ “golden age” from 1870-1925. The 2012 Salkind Festival also celebrated Debussy’s 150th anniversary as well as a program devoted to music and composers with a connection to 1812, 1912 and 2012.

The theme of the 4th Salkind International Piano Duo Festival highlighted Paris as an artistic center during its’ “golden age” from 1870-1925.  The 2012 Salkind Festival also celebrated Debussy’s 150th anniversary as well as a program devoted to music and composers with a connection to 1812, 1912 and 2012. Piano duos from Europe and North America performed exciting and innovative programs of works by Bizet, Saint-Saens, Chabrier, Faure, Dukas, Debussy, Satie, Ravel, Milhaud, Hahn, and, of course, some wonderful new discoveries. The 2012 Salkind Festival presented three world premieres of three commissioned works for 1812-1912-2012 program. Inspired by the Parisian tradition of composers and choreographers collaborating on performance projects, the 2012 Festival also featured a dance program with performances of works by Debussy and Darius Milhaud with choreography by Mark Foehringer.
